“Listen…are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?” - Mary Oliver

My name is Alyssa Finley, LPC, and I’m a psychotherapist in private practice in Austin, TX. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and English Literature from UTSA and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I have studied the intersection of psychodynamic psychotherapy, theology, archetypal psychology, storytelling, and pattern recognition for 15 years. The intersection of these languages has led me to hone in on a specific mode of psychotherapy, which merges these areas of study and modalities of self-exploration to provide my clients with not only a creative tool for self-discovery, but a medicine cabinet of various elixirs that best suit their individual psychological blueprint. In discovering this for myself, I have dedicated my work to becoming fluent in these languages and to demonstrating that healing can be found at the intersection of these modalities. I am also greatly informed by psychoanalytic and attachment theories, which means that therapy with me also involves exploring processes that guide and determine our thoughts, feelings, and behavior in conscious and unconscious ways. Working with unconscious activity can include: anxiety, loss/grief, anger, loneliness, desire/dread, shame, and dream-life. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to do this good work, and I am so glad that your journey has led you here.
